What is the SMART Lexicon Manager?

Lexicon ManagerThe SMART Lexicon Manager is a software tool to manage terminology for Controlled English, Simplified Technical English and Plain English.

How the Lexicon Manager works

Click the Demo button to see the two simple screens for the Lexicon Manager input.

Screen 1: Gathers the information for the technical dictionaries. This screen includes fields for noun plurals, abbreviations, adverbs, adjectives and verb conjugations.

Screen 2: Gathers the information for the synonyms or reverse dictionary. For best results, users can add as many valid synonyms as possible.

Dictionary Customization

SMART recommends the formation of an informal Terminology Committee to control additional terms suggested by writers.

New terms are collected in a Temporary Dictionary feature from either the MAXitServer or the MAXit Checker clients. After the new terms are reviewed, they are added to the main dictionaries through the SMART Lexicon Manager.  We offer conversion services for custom word lists.

DSP

For small projects, SMART offers a Dictionary Service Pack. The customer sends their word lists to SMART by email. SMART returns the updated customer dictionaries within 24 hours. This service is ideal to expand the dictionaries provided in the Starter Kit.
